One of the perils of my line of work is the potential to spend entire paychecks on puppets. Luckily, the Folkmanis sheepdog I got the other day was a gift. He’s so darn cute that I couldn’t resist basing a storytime around him. (And, yes, I currently use themes in my babytimes. I find the wealth of songs, fingerplays, bounces, etc. overwhelming without a theme to zero in on. I do repeats week to week and anticipate I’ll move to themeless babytimes once I have a wider repetoire memorized and once I’ve gained a bit more confidence.)

Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed
To see such sport
And the dish ran away with the spoon!
